RAL 2004 Color Steel Coil

RAL 2004 (Pure Orange) pre-painted steel coils are pre-coated steel products formed by applying an organic coating to the surface of galvanized or galvanized-aluminum steel substrates via a continuous roll-coating process.

In the color-coated steel coil industry, RAL 2004 is typically used in applications requiring high visibility, weather resistance, and decorative appeal (such as industrial equipment enclosures, safety signage structures, and specially designed building facades).

RAL 2004 Color Characteristics

RAL 2004 is classified as:

  • A highly saturated Pure Orange.
  • A color with high visual recognition.
  • Commonly used in warning/industrial signage systems.

Color Characteristics:

  • High brightness, Strong visual impact.
  • Extremely high visibility in outdoor environments.
  • Can be paired with gray, white, or black color schemes.

In actual pre-painted steel coil production, this color is typically achieved through PE, SMP, HDP, or PVDF coatings.

RAL 2004 Color-Coated Steel Coils We Supply

We operate two color-coated steel coil production lines and can supply RAL 2004 PPGI/PPGL steel coils in the following specifications:

  • Substrate Types: Hot-dip galvanized steel (GI)/Aluminum-zinc-coated steel (GL)
  • Thickness Range: 0.12 – 1.5 mm
  • Width range: 600 – 1250 mm
  • Coating systems: PE / SMP / HDP / PVDF
  • Zinc coating weight: Z30 – Z275 g/m² or AZ30 – AZ150 g/m²
  • Surface finish: Glossy / Matte / Textured
  • RAL Color: RAL 2004 (other colors in the same hue available upon request)
  • Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ): 10 metric tons

Production Process

Our color-coated steel coils are produced using a continuous coil coating process: Uncoiling → Cleaning → Chemical Pretreatment → Primer Coating → Baking and Curing → Topcoat Application (RAL 2004) → Cooling → Quality Inspection → Rewinding and Packaging.

Structural Composition of RAL 2004 Color-Coated Steel Coils

Backcoat → Steel Substrate (GI / GL) → Chemical Pretreatment → Primer (5–8 μm) → Topcoat (15–25 μm, RAL 2004) → Protective Layer

  • Backcoat: Enhances corrosion resistance; color can be customized according to customer requirements, typically in gray or white tones.
  • Steel Substrate: Hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) or galvanized-aluminum steel (GL), providing structural strength and corrosion protection.
  • Chemical Pretreatment: Surface cleaning and chemical conversion coating, primarily used to improve adhesion between the paint film and the substrate.
  • Primer: The critical bonding and corrosion-resistant layer of the coating system; it features strong adhesion and bonds tightly to the metal substrate and the topcoat.
  • Topcoat (15–25 microns, RAL 2004): A high-performance coating that delivers exceptional color rendering, durability, and corrosion resistance.
  • Protective Layer: Typically a PVC film applied to the front surface of the color-coated steel coil.

FAQ

Q1: Does RAL 2004 fade?

When coated with high-quality HDP or the most weather-resistant PVDF paint, weather resistance is guaranteed for 8–15 years.

Q2: What should I look for when purchasing RAL 2004 color-coated steel coils?

  • Confirm whether the substrate is galvanized steel or aluminum-zinc-coated steel; also verify the coating weight—such as Z30, Z60, Z275, AZ30, AZ50, or AZ100.
  • It is particularly important to be wary of products priced significantly below market rates, as they likely use inferior substrates or cut corners in production. Some of our customers have reported that products they purchased at low prices turned out to be nothing more than a pile of tires.

Q3: Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, it is. Different environments call for different paint coatings. In dry environments, we recommend a high-zinc coating combined with a PE coating; in humid environments, we recommend a PVDF coating to enhance UV resistance.
